Trinity Stamps has this collection of these rectangular stamps for the Love Dani stamp line and they make super quick cards. Her images make it so easy to color up and pop it right on a card. To spice it up a bit, I did choose to create another layer of watercolors just for a pop of fun colors.

Watercolor Galaxy | MFT Stamps

I’m starting to get a big more comfortable with watercolors and I attempted to create a galaxy with them! A little bit of trial and error but the best part is that galaxy backgrounds are look such a mess but when you add splatter, it pulls it all together! I also decided to use a mix of mediums so I used copic markers for the images!

Note: I created this card to enter into MFT’s Card Design Superstar challenge and didn’t realize that this set is no longer available at My Favorite Things Stamp but I found a couple places that carries it.

My favorite “cheat” with watercoloring is heat embossing an image. Watercolors are finnicky and if you paint too closely to something that isn’t dry, the colors will mix and bloom into each other. The raised edges from the heat embossing contains your colors so it doesn’t get messy. Also, underpainting is one of my favorite ways to watercolor because it’s full of color!

Here’s a trick for creating card when you don’t want to color. I’m not a pro at watercolors but I definitely can create a rainbow look, which is what I did here. I stepped away because I thought it was too bright but I powered through and created a card that normally isn’t my style — I kinda love how it turned out.
