Fall Coffee Lovers Bloghop | Coffee Monster

Happy Friday everyone! Can you smell Fall in the air? It’s almost here and I’m really excited because Fall is my FAVORITE season. I love chunky sweaters, cute scarves, the Fall chill in the air, and my favorite, Salted Caramel Lattes.

I’m participating in this Fall Coffee Lovers Bloghop and wanted to share this super duper cute card featuring one of Gerda Steiner Design’s newest stamp set, Coffee Monster. I’m an avid coffee feen and if I don’t get my morning cup, I’m grumpy.

I created this card with the new set:

It’s a shaker card! In addition to using sequins, I wanted to make this a little special and use coffee beans… and let me tell you, it smells amazing! For this card, I had to use four layers of foam to create the shaker compartments and used the sentiment to hide the foam tape. I wanted two compartments for the coffee beans so they just didn’t just fall to the bottom.

For the back of the card, I used distress ink with some water and used an actual coffee cup to create the cup imprints. It looks like I used that paper to set my coffee cup on!

These little monsters are so adorable! Pair them with coffee and this just may be one of my favorite set! Now if only coffee shops made their Fall coffee drinks all year… mMm…

Thanks for stopping by. Until next time!

Pop Up Box with Bottom Panel

Hello everyone! I had made this pop up box awhile back and there were a lot of questions about how to go about doing it.

It’s actually a pretty simple card, especially now since there are pop up box dies out there. I, however, did it the old fashioned way and made mine from scratch. It’s actually bigger than the pop up box dies since those are A2 sized so it’s a really good card for a special person. It’s quite hard to explain how I created it since there’s a lot of steps, so I made a YouTube tutorial on the steps and all the measurements are listed at the end of this post.

The bottom window, which is the main feature, is one I cut out with an Xactoknife. Using acetate and a xyron sticker maker to adhere the images, it adds a special element to the card. The fish hang from the waves above and appear to be floating in the “aquarium”. Don’t you just love acetate?!

I hope you all enjoy this card! It’s a really fun one. It has a lot of moving parts but if you pre-cut everything out first, and then assemble, it actually goes pretty quickly.

Spinning Card – More Than Pie

Hey everyone, today I’m using the More than Pie stamp set. I noticed the bear that wasn’t holding any pie and wanted to surround him with pies!

Using acetate, I created a spinner wheel for the pies to stick to and spin around the bear. For the bear to be in front, I had to create a stationary piece that the pies can move freely behind. That’s where foam tape comes in handy.

It’s a bit hard to explain in words, so I’m also including my YouTube Video Tutorial for it.

Regardless, I think the card comes out to be really cute and it’s an easy card made interactive by adding a brad to it. The acetate also makes it look like the pies are floating as long as you don’t look too closely.

Hopefully, you enjoyed this card and checked out the video to learn how to create one as well. Supplies are also listed below.

Thanks for visiting and I’m sure I’ll be back with another card for you guys soon.

Pure Imagination – Double Slider with Hidden Slider

Hello! This is my very first video so I’m a bit nervous but I’ve gotten quite a few questions on how to make this so I finally got around to sharing the details. A double slider card is one of my favorite types of card to make since it’s such a surprise for the recipient. Sweet Stamp Shop’s Pure Imagination stamp set really inspired me to spruce it up a little more!

It was much easier to create a video of the process than explain via words. I’m more of a visual learner anyway.

Hopefully, after you watch it, you’ll be inspired to create this kind of card. It truly is a card for someone special.

Mix and Matching Stamps

Sometimes, you just want to mix and match stamp sets and that’s what I did. I used three sets of Gerda Steiner stamps: Moody Unicorn, Hippo with Butterly, Hoppiness. They work really well together.

Since the main card is focused on the different animals, I wanted to use a background that was colorful and fun. I’ve been really enjoying playing with distress oxide inks lately. Even though I don’t have many of them, I love how I was able to use three of them (Worn Lipstick, Broken China, Fossilized Amber) to create six different colors, essentially the rainbow! I sprinkled a bit of water and picked it up with a paper towel. And if that wasn’t enough, I wanted to add a little pizzazz so I used the gold color from the Finetec watercolor palette and sprinkled it over the background. It’s a bit hard to pick up in the pictures but you can see how subtly pretty it makes the background. I’m in love!

I really loved how this card turned out and I hope you all enjoyed it too. Have a great day!!!

Pool Piggies

I’m back on Gerda Steiner Designs‘s blog to feature their brand new stamp set, Pool Piggies. Check out her blog for the details of how I pulled everything together.

I wanted to do something fun, and I really just wanted to use every stamp in the set. The best part is that since the card is pretty flat, you don’t expect the piggies to move but they do! They float in the water!

Vellum paper
Distress Inks
MFT Scalloped Edge Dies

DIY – Magnetic Bookmarks

I had posted a picture of my Harry Potter bookmarks that I had made as stocking stuffers and a few people had asked how to make them. I’m happy to report, it’s pretty darn easy.

sdfsd.jpg

FullSizeRender 2.jpg

I used Canson XL watercolor paper, a 2 inch circle die, and some Love Cynthia stamps.

IMG_3063.jpg

Using the circle die, I placed it on the folded strip of paper and ran it through my Sizzix Big Kick. This way it will come out with a folded circle.

I folded the paper in half and place the circle die on it leaving space at the top, so that when I ran it through my Sizzix Big Kick, it would have a folded circle.

I stamped using black Versafine ink and used Hero Arts clear embossing powder. I thought that heat embossing it made it looked a lot prettier.

Then the fun part, coloring! I used Spectrum Noir markers. They blend well on this Canson XL watercolor paper.

I found these magnet sheets at Daiso ($1.50 store). They have the white backing you see but it’s easily removeable. I remove it because it adds additional thickness that you don’t need. But I use it to cut 1 inch sIMG_3070 (1).jpgquares.

Then I used Scor-pal double-sided adhesive to the magnets and added it to the bookmarks.

Then you’re done and ready to use it in your planner or book!

Get Well Soon – Dancing Hippos

Someone close to me is recovering from a surgery and stuck at home resting for about two weeks. She was pretty concerned about the surgery and I wanted to send something to help brighten her day a little.

Ever since I saw the Clearly Besotted Trouble in a Tutu stamp set, I totally fell in love. Not only are those hippos incredibly adorable, they were DANCING?! And with interactive cards being so imaginative, I needed something to make those hippos come to life.

I’ve been meaning to do a pop up card for the longest time and kept contemplating the different dies that all companies have come out with, but I realized they didn’t always fit exactly what i wanted to do and with a craft knife/paper cutter, you can make it work. But making a pop up card wouldn’t necessary do the hippos justice, I literally wanted them to dance.

Here’s what I came up with:

IMG_0955.JPG

When you open up this card, the hippos SPIN. The spinning element works as with all spinner cards, except you have to place the hippos perfectly so they don’t rub up against the back of the card, or it’ll disturb their spinning. But I’m so glad they  are twirling on stage since they are ballerinas. I’m in LOVE. The hippo in the front center (pink tutu) actually pops up as well so it looks like she’s in the air swirling her baton.

You can see the card in action here:

Hope you love it!

  • Clearly Besotted – Trouble in a Tutu
  • Your Next Stamp – Puffy Clouds

Birthday Cards – Candy Dispensing Card

I had spotted this design on Instagram. It was a card that actually worked to dispense candy! I knew I had to make one for myself. It is such a great idea to give to a kid, or just to someone who enjoys candy!

I checked out her youtube video (Tutorial), tweaked a few things, and created my version of it. I hate when dimensional cards leave you with the foam tape peeking out on the sides so the simple solution was to use washi tape to hide it. The added touch really helps finish the card. Pretty fun…

13879288_185545058531049_1686366509006711633_n

It works the same way as the tutorial. The only swaps I made was using craft foam instead of foam tape, and lining the edge of the card with washi instead of leaving it bare. It’s so exciting to see it work out successfully.

Items used:

  • Penny Black Stamps – Buddy & Duck
  • Paper Smooches – Clouds
  • Mini M&Ms
  • Daiso – Washi Tape

Coloring:

  • Ranger Distress Inks
  • Crayola colored pencils
