Hoppiness

Hi everyone!

I’m up on Gerda Steiner’s blog today featuring the super cute Hoppiness Set. What a perfect set for Spring!

I can’t even contain my excitement because I’ve been a big fan of her company ever since spotting those Moody Unicorns and have been obsessed ever since. And I added a little surprise for the card recipient.

Check it out over on her blog: Gerda Steiner.

Get Well Soon – Dancing Hippos

Someone close to me is recovering from a surgery and stuck at home resting for about two weeks. She was pretty concerned about the surgery and I wanted to send something to help brighten her day a little.

Ever since I saw the Clearly Besotted Trouble in a Tutu stamp set, I totally fell in love. Not only are those hippos incredibly adorable, they were DANCING?! And with interactive cards being so imaginative, I needed something to make those hippos come to life.

I’ve been meaning to do a pop up card for the longest time and kept contemplating the different dies that all companies have come out with, but I realized they didn’t always fit exactly what i wanted to do and with a craft knife/paper cutter, you can make it work. But making a pop up card wouldn’t necessary do the hippos justice, I literally wanted them to dance.

Here’s what I came up with:

When you open up this card, the hippos SPIN. The spinning element works as with all spinner cards, except you have to place the hippos perfectly so they don’t rub up against the back of the card, or it’ll disturb their spinning. But I’m so glad they  are twirling on stage since they are ballerinas. I’m in LOVE. The hippo in the front center (pink tutu) actually pops up as well so it looks like she’s in the air swirling her baton.

You can see the card in action here:

Hope you love it!

Birthday Cards – Candy Dispensing Card

I had spotted this design on Instagram. It was a card that actually worked to dispense candy! I knew I had to make one for myself. It is such a great idea to give to a kid, or just to someone who enjoys candy!

I checked out her youtube video (Tutorial), tweaked a few things, and created my version of it. I hate when dimensional cards leave you with the foam tape peeking out on the sides so the simple solution was to use washi tape to hide it. The added touch really helps finish the card. Pretty fun…

It works the same way as the tutorial. The only swaps I made was using craft foam instead of foam tape, and lining the edge of the card with washi instead of leaving it bare. It’s so exciting to see it work out successfully.
