Have a Ball! | Gerda Steiner Designs

Hello everyone! It’s been awhile since I’ve shared one of my cards and I really am loving this one. If you’re a fan of animals, especially doggies, this Dachshunds stamp set is for you! You’ll see that I used the Hoppiness stamp set as well to add a few extra elements to the card as well.

I used a grassy hills die to create a stencil. Using distress inks, I colored two layers of the grass. I definitely wanted to use two of the dogs in the set. I like how the first dog is looking back. I can’t really tell if he’s looking at that butterfly on his tail or the other dog chasing the tennis ball.

Since the second dog looked to be moving, I wanted to put him in action. And what dog doesn’t love chasing balls? I just had to have him chase the tennis ball included in this set. I create a pull tab channel so he could run towards the ball.

I used two sentiments in this card: It’s Your Birthday and Have A Ball. The first one is prominent on the front of the card, but the second one is hidden until the dog fetches the ball. It’s a small surprise for the card recipient.

I used the hearts and the butterfly from the Hoppiness set so I could add pop of color to the card. It looked a little too plain with just the doggies. I think it helps add that special something to the card.

I hope you enjoyed this card and picked up the set. It’s so fun! Thanks for stopping by!

PPP Jewels & Bunnies

Hello everyone! Today, I’m sharing two cards I put together using Pretty Pink Posh‘s newly released stamp set Bunny Friends and the jewels.

I picked out blue cardstock and used a matching ink to stamp the little flowers from the Bunny Friends to create a background. I added a few dots just to fill in the empty space but to keep it simple. I die cut a square in that background to showcase one of the bunnies from this set. I used two different sizes of the Sea Glass Jewels to create a border around the square. The “Happy Spring” sentiment comes together, but I masked off the sentiment so it would be on one line on a piece of white cardstock. It’s a pretty simple card but the jewels really make it pop.

The next card is the same exact card except I chose pink cardstock and ink to match the Pink Blush Jewels. I decided to add a grassy field for the bunny to sit on and it really makes it pop. I chose to use the same pattern of the sizes for the jewels on the border.

Although it’s a really simple card, the jewels really make it pop. I like how they are different from sequins and look extremely pretty. Can’t wait to use them for more projects.

This was a pretty fun card to put together, but there’s definitely more coloring than normal!

Come on back on Friday, when I share a new video and a card I had running in my head for a couple weeks… but never had the time to put it together until now.

Oh Manatee! – with Zig Coloring

Hi all! I’m stopping by today to share a fun card with you. To be honest, I wasn’t sure what I wanted create at first. I actually stamped all the little manatees and colored them in, not knowing. Eventually, I thought an underwater scene would be perfect for them and I ran with that idea.

I knew that I wanted the kelp to be a large part of setting the scene and I wanted to incorporate it with the animals. I thought it would make it super cute where if one of the manatees could peek out. This part was a bit difficult as I had to fussy cut it the kelp but in the end, it was totally worth it.

I used watercolor paper since it is thicker and in doing so, I wanted to use my Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers. I actually grabbed all the blues and drew wave-like lines all over the background. Then using a water brush, I just ran it over the lines and blended a little. It literally took me less than a couple of minutes to do this. I think it does give it a very soft ocean look since there are so many different shades of blue.

What do you think? Anyway, I hope you enjoy the card.

Mix and Matching Stamps

Sometimes, you just want to mix and match stamp sets and that’s what I did. I used three sets of Gerda Steiner stamps: Moody Unicorn, Hippo with Butterly, Hoppiness. They work really well together.

Since the main card is focused on the different animals, I wanted to use a background that was colorful and fun. I’ve been really enjoying playing with distress oxide inks lately. Even though I don’t have many of them, I love how I was able to use three of them (Worn Lipstick, Broken China, Fossilized Amber) to create six different colors, essentially the rainbow! I sprinkled a bit of water and picked it up with a paper towel. And if that wasn’t enough, I wanted to add a little pizzazz so I used the gold color from the Finetec watercolor palette and sprinkled it over the background. It’s a bit hard to pick up in the pictures but you can see how subtly pretty it makes the background. I’m in love!

I really loved how this card turned out and I hope you all enjoyed it too. Have a great day!!!
