Glowing Lights | Honey Bee Stamps

I love glowing lights and it always seems hard to achieve but there’s some tricks to it. I do a mix of ink blending plus fussy cutting to create the illusion. It’s perfect for fall/winter cards as we get into shorter days and longer nights.

I love a Christmas Rainbow, which is essentially Red, Orange, Yellow, and Green. This set isn’t the traditional Christmas florals and I love that so I paired it with some ink blending and then a simple heat embossed sentiment.

I went on vacation in September and coming back was a bit tough. I just didn’t really want to make cards, I didn’t feel very creative.. but it’s been about three weeks and I’m back! A new stamping platform? Why, yes please! I’m usually pretty stuck in my ways especially when I’m used to something but this Stamp Wheel is worth the try. I used it to stencil up my background panel and then used it to stamp out my bold sentiment for this card. I was skeptical that it would like up perfectly each time but it did! I haven’t even used it yet to create my own patterns…. I’m pretty excited about the endless possibilities.

3D Embossing folders are super cool because they add so much texture and dimension. Sometimes it’s pretty subtle but since I love fall — I just really wanted to make the leaves stand out so I added a bit of paste. It really stepped it up and looks amazing!

An easy cheat for a card that pops is using a black copic marker. You can ink blend however you want and it doesn’t even have to be smooth! You stamp your images on top and color the rest in black!

I’ve been loving pulling older sets and matching it with new ones. The Sweet Spring Mice is a favorite and I definitely wanted to use it with this Friendship Frame stamp set. It was the perfect frame that works as a background so the focal image would fit snugly in the middle. I used one copic marker to add a bit of shading to the Friendship Frame stamp and it worked so well!

A simple trick to elevating your card is to use an embossing folder to add texture to your background. I didn’t want it to overtake the card since my focal image leaves a bit of blank space so I used additional color blocking to fill up the card in a subtle way.
